About me

I am a Person-Centered therapist licensed in the UK with 4 years of professional work experience as a person-centered therapist and coaching/mentor. In addition to teaching for over 25+ years,  I have experience in helping clients with a wide range of issues and concerns such as mental  health issues, relationship problems, trauma and abuse, motivation, self esteem, career challenges and many more.

I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. My approach combines a variety of counselling techniques such as; integrative, rational-emotive therapy as well as cognitive behavioral therapy. I'll adjust our conversation and strategy to fit your particular requirements in a safe and professional manor.

I look forward to working with you!

How to start:

You have already taken the first leap towards towards seeking help which I can appreciate to be daunting experience asking a stranger for help. You now probably want to know if I'm the right counsellor for you, and it is true that whether or not we are a good fit will have a significant impact on your counselling experience. Whether you think I am a good fit for you will be determined by the following steps:

- Organise a free initial 15/20 minute session via Video call or telephone to help you decide if I'm the right counsellor for you. Where you are able to ask any questions you have, about the issue you want to bring to counselling, my qualifications and background and how we could work together.

- If you feel I am the right fit our counselling journey begins where we will schedule sessions based upon our mutual convenience in order to achieve your desired outcome.

Not everything needs to be set out before you contact a counsellor, but if you value that counselling support, I hope you will do so and begin the process of changing for the better.

Training:

After 25+ years in education, I completed my training as a person-centred counsellor at Walsall College, I have worked for three counselling charities in the West Midlands as well as working with children in a primary school setting.

I have helped at two refugee centers known as The Haven and The Women & Families Resource Centre. This has allowed me to help and experience clients who are affected by trauma such as rape, survivors of physical, sexual or emotional abuse, bereavement or divorce.

I also work at Believe 2 Achieve whereby I work with children of all ages in a school setting to help them work through any issues primarily based around their well being. Some children I have worked with have presented issues regarding; anxiety, depression, stress, eating disorder, domestic abuse, bereavement and family dynamics.

Since counselling is my second employment, I bring to my therapeutic practice extensive knowledge of the modern workplace (as a lecturer and teacher) and an understanding of how it can occasionally push our emotional and mental health to its absolute limits. This has allowed me to help people with personal/work relationships such as workplace bullying.

In addition to being a British-Asian woman this has enabled me to work with a diverse set of clients and couples and have an in-depth understanding of religion and cultural sensitivity. This also allows me to communicate in a multicultural diverse society through using Punjabi allowing me to build a bridge and rapport with my clients to meet their specific needs.
