I am a psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapist who is able to provide a safe, non-judgmental, warm and professional space to explore and resolve emotional issues and distress. The psychotherapy I provide is a clinical treatment for a wide range of mental health issues.
People can experience emotional distress at any point in their lives and for various reasons, at times there can be a traumatic event or a loss that occurs, and at other times the reason we feel distress such as anxiety and depression is not always clear.
I am able to work with trauma and loss and offer a safe environment to process and resolve events that may feel very difficult to speak about.
In psychoanalytic work we build together a clear narrative of childhood relationships and experiences and use this foundation to clearly understand relationships and issues that may be occurring in the here and now. The aim of this process is to help individuals gain greater understanding and insight into their difficulties which can often lead to symptom relief.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a clinical masters in psychotherapy which means I have undergone 6 years intensive theoretical and practical training.
I also have a psychology degree and therefore spent three years learning the fundamental information on various mental health issues, the development of both children and adults and various treatments.
I have varied and lengthy experience and have worked in mental health settings for the past ten years. My experience has been inpatient settings, for both adults and adolescents and also within the community in a secondary mental health service. I have worked with traumatised children and parents coping with these issues.
