About me

***Now offering counselling online***

I'm a therapeutic counsellor and racial diversity trainer offering person-centred therapy for a range of life worries and challenges. I have expertise in working with race and racial identity. This includes following areas:

  • Race-related anxiety and depression.
  • Racism, discrimination and oppression.
  • Living cross-culturally and cultural transplantation.
  • Interracial family issues (including relationships and dating).
  • Mental health challenges for Black and Asian communities.
  • Generational trauma, heritage and family issues.
  • Racial and cultural practices and influences.
  • Cultural shame and cultural isolation.

You might be feeling powerless, exhausted or deflated as you try to manage the various difficult life stresses you face. Over time this can lead to low self-confidence, low self-esteem and loneliness with a feeling of no one or nowhere to turn to. The origin of these problems may or may not be clear but you’ve identified you want support to help work these out.

As a therapist I’ll provide a reliable, accepting and consistent relationship for you. In this trusting relationship you can explore and unpack the many different experiences that cause pain or confusion in your life.

Through working with me, I’ll provide my professional expertise, empathy and no judgement to help you understand the ways in which your history and experiences have shaped your life and identity. This will enable you to develop your self-awareness, find contentment and develop healthier relationships with yourself and others.

I am also a published author, contributing a chapter to the 2023 book ‘People Not Pathology: Freeing Therapy From The Medical Model’. This is focused on the impact that racism has on mental health and how important racial and cultural understanding in therapy.

I understand that counselling is a significant step, so I offer a free, no-obligation consultation via phone for you to decide if I am the right person for you. This is an opportunity to ask me questions and to see if we are a good fit for you to begin working towards your own personal goals. I also offer open-ended therapy, letting you choose how long you'd like to work together for.

You can easily schedule a call back using this calendar here, or you can contact me via email here.

If you would like to find out more about me and my work, you can see this on my website.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sarah
