About me

Hi, I am Sammie,  my counselling practice stands as a beacon of hope and transformation, born from a journey both professional and deeply personal.

I am a dedicated Person-Centred Counsellor and trauma informed practitioner. From the age of 14, counselling has been a pivotal part of my life. Engaging with counselling on and off through my adult years, I discovered the profound impact that empathetic, non-judgemental, understanding can have on an individual's life. These personal encounters with the therapeutic process not only aided in navigating my own challenges but also ignited a passionate desire to facilitate similar transformations in others. providing a safe and supportive space for individuals seeking personal growth, healing or navigating challenges related to mental health, anxiety, low self esteem and depression.

I prioritise, making sure that every individual feels genuinely heard and understood. My sincere passion, drives me to enable others to reach a place where they feel whole and not weighed down with self doubt, low self esteem and feel more able to express themselves authentically.

I create a safe and supportive space for individuals on their personal growth and healing journey. Rooted in empathy, respect, and a strong commitment to empowering individuals on their journey, towards mental and emotional well-being. I recognise and respect the unique experiences and challenges that each person brings.

The purpose of my counselling is to offer a confidential, respectful, and dignified service to enable clients to make the changes they desire. I understand that sharing personal matters can be intimidating. My aim is to provide a non-judgmental environment where you can freely express your thoughts and emotions without fear of criticism. I am devoted to helping clients explore and overcome the impact of their experiences.

I have over 25 years of experience in the NHS with both children and adults, along with my experience in education with profoundly disabled adults and their carer's. I have drawn upon these experiences, bringing a wealth of knowledge to my practice. In addition to my counselling practice, I am actively involved as a volunteer counsellor with a charity in Leicestershire, supporting men and women who have experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence.

Through our connection, we will work towards a life that brings you greater contentment.

I understand that seeking therapy for the first time can be daunt reassurance or answer any questions about our session, I offer a free 30-minute initial assessment session to allow us to see if we are a right fit for each other.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
