About me

Hello, I’m Saman Kaur, a qualified and experienced counsellor based in Hoole, Chester, offering online and in-person counselling to adults across Cheshire and the UK. I hold a BSc in therapeutic counselling and a master’s degree in psychology, and I’m passionate about providing a warm, non-judgemental, and culturally sensitive space for personal growth and emotional healing.

As a British Indian and Sikh therapist, I understand how culture, faith, identity, and community can influence mental health. I work inclusively with clients from diverse backgrounds and offer specialist support for those navigating cultural identity issues, family expectations, intergenerational conflict, and faith-based concerns.

I support clients dealing with a wide range of issues, including:

• Anxiety and stress

• Low self-esteem and confidence

• Depression and mood difficulties

• Grief and bereavement

• Relationship and family problems

• Workplace stress and burnout

• Trauma and PTSD

• Life transitions and identity changes

Alongside my private practice, I work as a subcontracted therapist with the NHS and the private banking sector, helping individuals manage professional stress, emotional exhaustion, and mental health in high-pressure roles. This dual perspective enables me to understand the demands of both personal and professional life.

I offer online counselling sessions across the UK as well as in-person therapy in Hoole and Chester. My sessions are client-led, confidential, and focused on building a strong, trusting relationship where you can explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe space.

Whether you’re searching for a counsellor in Chester, a remote therapist in the UK, or someone who truly understands the intersection of culture, faith, and mental health, I’d be honoured to support you

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a upper second class degree in Therapeutic Counselling from Leeds Beckett and a Diploma in person-centred and experiential counselling from Glyndwr University. Additionally, I hold a Level 6 qualification in Online & Telephone Counselling from Glyndwr University.

I am deeply passionate about providing a tailored and personalised approach to my clients. My training in a Person-Centred approach, CBT, and my role as a Mental Health First Aider reflect my commitment to offering holistic support. Moreover, I have undergone specialized training to address sensitive issues such as child/baby loss, FGM abuse, and domestic violence. My practice is specifically geared towards individuals aged 18 and over.

In my counseling sessions, I believe in fostering a collaborative relationship where clients feel empowered to request the approach that resonates with them. I am committed to accommodating their unique wants and needs by exploring various methods to find the best fit.

While I primarily operate in my private practice, I also dedicate my time to serving as a sessional counsellor with an child counselling charity. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I adhere to their ethical framework, ensuring that I provide a safe and supportive environment for my clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
