About me

I believe no one should suffer alone and in silence. I offer a warm, confidential and caring space for you to share what is on your mind with someone who really wants to listen.

Exploring your issues with an empathetic person, separate from your everyday life, who accepts where you are at and does not judge, can provide the space you need to achieve a different perspective that will allow you to start making some positive changes in your life.

I am an integrative therapist with knowledge of different models of counselling who can adapt her counselling to meet your needs. My preferences are person centred and psychodynamic approaches that allow you to feel supported when exploring those really difficult issues you are currently dealing with or those issues that lie in your past. Together we can look at how the past is affecting your thoughts, emotions and decisions today. Understanding how our bodies react to stress can help you to start gaining control and cognitive behavioural therapy can help you develop coping strategies.

I have worked in the NHS for over 30 years and have seen people struggle with the hardships life throws at them both physically and mentally. The most important thing is that you feel safe and secure enough to relax and openly share what is on your mind. Everyone has the right to be heard. What you want from counselling will be at the heart of how we work together, and we will work at a pace that is comfortable for you.

I offer short term or open ended therapy and have an office space in Pontypool that is accessible for wheelchairs.

It is hard to make the first move into counselling, but rest assured, after the first session you are under no obligation to continue if you do not think we are a good fit.

You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
