About me

Hi, I'm Rukhsana (Saana) from Saana Counselling. I recognise that, as humans, we all suffer distress from time to time. If you are experiencing difficulty or are feeling stuck with something, then I aim to provide you with a safe environment to explore what may be affecting your life. I work as an integrative therapist, meaning I will use more than one counselling approach to inform and enhance our work together. My experience includes voluntary support for victims of domestic abuse through Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid. I am currently training as a child counsellor, and I see both adults and children in my private practice. I'm hopeful that I can use some of the insight and knowledge I've gained from supporting others, as well as my own life experiences, in my counselling practice.

I realise how frightening it might be to speak with a stranger. I will listen empathetically and without judgment, and I am open to dealing with whatever you feel comfortable bringing into therapy. I am here to help you notice things you may be unaware of, as well as identify any obstacles that are preventing you from fully living your life. The simple act of just talking and being heard can be so powerful. My experience working with people has led me to believe that change is possible even in the most depressingly hopeless circumstances.

I provide a free introductory 10- to 15-minute phone consultation so you have the opportunity to ask any questions and decide whether we could work together. This helps us both understand how we might be able to work together to help you reach your goals for therapy. If you decide to take the next step, we can arrange an assessment to talk about your goals and requirements for therapy.

It takes courage to take the first step towards getting help, and I understand the importance of finding someone you can trust to accompany you on your journey. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or queries, and I will do my best to respond to you promptly.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
