About me
Hi I'm Becky. Welcome to my profile.
In my work I am passionate about helping my client to find a better understanding of themself and what they want. Ours will be a mutual therapeutic relationship meaning that we work together to find out how therapy works best for you. The focus of our sessions will be on your needs and wellbeing. Face to face in a welcoming, informal space or online if you prefer, you can feel safe to explore confidentially how you feel, develop some clarity about any changes that you want to bring to your life and how to make those changes. When you share I'll listen, respond with care and sensitively question so I can understand more fully.
Counselling can be seen as a journey. A journey where you're in control and, with my support, you can search for whatever is important to you. It can be short, it can be long, bumpy or smooth, but, however the journey is travelled, for very many people, it is liberating and empowering.
Everybody's journey is different. In my integrative training I have gathered different tools for different situations and different journeys. Using these empathically without judgement, we can build a strong, trusting relationship so that you can feel safe as you travel forwards. Happy to work creatively if you find comfort in drawing, writing or imagery, you can decide how far and how fast you want to travel. No matter how long you need me to listen, I will always cherish the opportunity to be with you on your journey.
Before I came to counselling I worked in the performing arts and later provided educational support for those who needed a helping hand with learning and communication. This led me to work closely with young people who have neurodivergence. Both these working experiences have shown me the importance of listening, a skill that is essential when a client feels brave enough to share information very personal to them.
If you're needing someone to listen and are feeling ready to embark on a counselling journey, email me or book a call and we can set up a free of charge up to half an hour chat where you can ask questions, find out details and decide if you think we'll make a good partnership. I look forward to hearing your story and how I can help.

Experience
I have counselling experience working in agencies with young people and adults. I also counsel in a school for students who are challenged by the boundaries of mainstream education.
In my past, although I worked in mainstream, a lot of my time in education was spent with students who had autism and special educational needs. This work was very much about uncovering the best ways for each individual to communicate emotionally as well as physically so they could thrive, not only in their learning, but lifetime journeys. These skills I transfer to my counselling as a way of helping my client develop their uniqueness.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
