About me

Counselling can help ....... Let's talk

I have 20 + years of experience, working within the Mental Health services, with extensive experience of a wide range of issues. The therapy I offer is based on an integrative approach, which means that I tailor the therapy to suit your needs, integrating different theoretical models to do this.

I offer a private & confidential space, which is warm, safe and supportive, where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. I will not judge you or give you advice but help you gain some understanding and empower you to find solutions that are suitable for you.

I believe the most important element within counselling is the relationship between client and therapist to establish a good working alliance. I further believe that the client knows where their problems lie, and I see my role as facilitating their journey by helping them achieve their goals using my knowledge of theory and experience.

My experience has taught me that life can be challenging and that we can all benefit from support at times. We can become ‘Stuck,’ ‘Overwhelmed’ and find life & relationships, too much to cope with. Counselling offers us the opportunity to expand and deepen our awareness in order to live more fully in life and in our relationships, which in turn brings balance and harmony. I believe each client is unique and has the inner resources to make any changes that may be necessary for their lives. My approach is that we work together to enable you to discover how to go about making those changes.

I WORK WITH:

  • Stress / Fear
  • Anxiety / Panic attacks
  • Relationship Issues & Family issues / Divorce / Separation / Affairs.
  • Anger / Frustration
  • Lack of confidence / Self- Esteem
  • Depression / sadness / emptiness
  • Eating Disorders
  • Trauma
  • PTSD
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Bereavement / Loss
  • Sexual Identity
  • Domestic violence
  • Addiction

... and life in general as I truly believe that when we are suffering in any way it will impact everything else.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Understandably taking the first step is often the most difficult one to take. Once you enquire, I will contact you via email to confirm that I have received your enquiry. I will then email/post forms for you to read and fill in at your leisure. These outline the terms and conditions of counselling so if you have any questions you can ask me at our first appointment. Our first appointment is a time of assessment, for me to assess your need for therapy so I can see how best to move forward with therapy and for you to see if you are happy to continue with me. I look forward to hearing from you, in the meantime take care.
