About me

How can Counselling help?

Sometimes we can all feel overwhelmed. If you are struggling in life and want to think and feel differently about your situation, then counselling may help by working through your issues. Experiences can often cause strong feelings of anger, fear or pain and by talking and understanding your individual situation you can begin to lessen the pain. Counselling may help you to manage the anxiety, anger and any other emotions you may be experiencing, by working together we can look at areas that you would like to work on, to enable you to find ways of coping.

How can I help?

I will provide you with support and understanding to help you through your journey. I offer clients a safe place to fully explore thoughts, feelings, issues, fears, difficulties, choices and opportunities by allowing you to talk confidentially and be heard and listened to without being judged, enabling you to understand your feelings which may be causing you distress and by giving you greater self-awareness and sense of empowerment, leading you to make more meaningful changes in your life.

I am a fully qualified Counsellor/Psychotherapist and a registered member of BACP. I am also a qualified Supervisor offering supervision to professionals in the caring environment and to trainees and qualified Counsellors.  I hold a current DBS and fully insured and attend regular CPD training courses for my professional development.

I have over 19 years experience of working with young people within school environment. I also have vast experience of working with adults supporting them with emotions of rape, domestic violence trauma and complex issues. I also offer couples relationship counselling.

My private practice is located in Oadby, with client parking and is easily accessible by public transport.

What can you expect from your first session?

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
