About me

Deciding to go to therapy, and finding the right therapist can be a daunting and difficult process.

My aim is to make that as easy as possible for you and I offer a free, initial first session of 30 minutes for you to test the waters and figure out if I feel like the right therapist for you.

I practice with warmth, empathy and compassion which aims to facilitate you to feel safe to share what might be worrying you in a trusting, confidential space.

I’ll never push you to talk about anything you don’t want to, instead, I’ll work to remain by your side to support you in unfolding your feelings however you wish to.

I’m an integrative therapist which means I draw from a toolbox of skills and modalities so that I can tailor my therapeutic approach to suit your unique needs.

My grounding is in the philosophy of the person-centred approach; I trust in the direction that clients wish to explore. I believe we all have the potential to grow and hold the answers within ourselves.

I draw upon psychodynamic ideas - considering how our childhood experiences and key patterns of attachment to parental figures in our early years influence how we relate to ourselves, others and the world around us.

I’m also a trauma informed somatic psychotherapist, and undertook training with renowned somatic trauma specialist Babette Rothschild. This means I’m well versed in old and new research that helps us understand how to work with, and navigate trauma in the body and mind.

I'm GSRD affirmative therapist, with experience working with those from the LGBTQ+ community.

I also work creatively, with a particular interest in how the use of tuning into the body, mental imagery and metaphor can enhance and offer further insight to the therapeutic experience.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working with clients dealing with depression and low mood, anxiety and panic attacks, self-harm, suicidal ideation, relationship and interpersonal difficulties, those who have experienced sexual, physical and mental abuse, childhood trauma, trauma in adult life, ADHD, bereavement and clients with partners in palliative care and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I currently work at Nightingale Hospital and in private practice. I have previously held posts as a therapist within the NHS as part of an IAPT service, at Headstrong and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.

My background is within the creative arts – I worked as a performer for many years before re-training as a psychotherapist.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
