About me

Hello, my name is Philippa. I'm a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, experienced in supporting adults, children and teenagers. I offer support with a range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, confidence issues, grief and loss, stress management, work-related issues, relationship difficulties, parental guidance, breakdown in family relations, and other mental health issues.

As an integrative counsellor I draw upon a range of theories and approaches to help you explore what is going on for you and meet your individual needs.

By providing a person-centred service, unconditional support, confidentiality and a safe space, I offer an environment where I am able to support you to make sense of your difficulties and better understand yourself. I work in the lovely calm surroundings of The Counselling & Wellbeing Space in Wetherby and The Harlow Therapy and Coaching, Harrogate.

Sessions with children and young people often include creative activities to support the therapeutic process, such as art, clay, sand tray, other clients prefer a confidential space to just talk and be heard.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call without obligation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 20 years experience working in the field of health, activity and well-being.

I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and qualified to work with children, adolescents and adults. I trained at The Northern Guild of Psychotherapy on BACP and UKCP accredited courses.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

In addition to private practice, I have worked with clients of all ages in schools, GP surgeries and local mental health charity.

I offer warmth, compassion and respect to clients of all ages and backgrounds. I have experience of working with children and teenagers from 4-17 years and with adults 18-85 years.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
