Paula Mason Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Supervisor Adv.Dip. MBACP reg.
About me
The aim of counselling is to help empower you, help you to develop your own insights and gain deeper understanding about yourself.
Through the process of counselling and the exploration of ourselves we are more able to use our inner resources and strength thus enabling us to cope more effectively with life.
My aim is to create a safe and trusting environment to enable you to share your problems and feel heard. I provide short and long term counselling and my Private Practice is based in Shepton Mallet.
I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with my core approach based in Person Centred Therapy. I offer psychotherapeutic counselling to individuals and couples from my Private Practice. I have experience working with clients with a wide range of issues and I draw upon different approaches to suit the individual needs of each person. I work in a person centred and non directive way. This means that I value you as a whole person and your ability to know what is right for you.
I believe that everyone has within them a drive to evolve and that life on this earth is a journey. External environmental factors and early childhood experiences can often have a detrimental impact on the development and journey of each person, and we all experience some negative experiences within our lives.
But with our amazing abilities as humans to love, value, seek meaning, explore and learn to be aware of ourselves, we can realign ourselves back on our journey of Self exploration and healing and strive to reach our full potential, to let go of negative harmful experiences, thought patterns and behaviours and to connect with ourselves (our inner relationship with our true self) and connect in a healthy relational experience with others around us.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
