About me

Hello,

Are you feeling Depressed? Is the feeling of Anxiety getting in the way of your happiness? Do you find Relationships difficult or simply need to understand yourself better?

Having Counselling with a qualified practitioner will provide you with a therapeutic relationship – in which you can explore your worries and help you find a balance to your everyday life.

I work collaboratively with individual/couple clients across the lifespan ranging from late adolescence to older adults. Additionally, I believe we are all a tapestry of our history and experiences, so I think it is important to understand you holistically as an individual.

Depending on your therapeutic needs we can assess and discuss which mode of therapy would be best suited for you. I specialise in relational issues, as well as depression, anxiety, divorce separation, addiction, social anxiety, loss, sexual abuse, domestic violence, identity issues, more severe mental health challenges, and addressing trauma histories. I utilize Cognitive behavioural, Psychodynamic, Transactional analysis, Self-psychology, Gestalt and Person-centered therapy as well as other modes of therapy, such as Integration.

What I Offer
I can offer you a safe space in which to explore your situation- feelings and emotions empathically. As we work together you might begin to find clarity, understand yourself and how you function in the world. My job is to- help you raise your self-awareness for the better of your well-being and all that you care about. I can also help individuals  to look at how they interact and act, based upon their behaviour patterns learnt from childhood. This helps release old feelings and expresses emotions in the present. Once self-awareness evolves, individuals then have the choice of changing the way they relate to the outside world and hopefully increase self-compassion.

I also offer Counselling to Nhs professionals, who might be struggling with anxiety, PTSD and depression due to the demands of caring for the wider public.

Sessions available Monday to Friday 8am-7pm. Weekend appointments possible please email to enquire.

COUNSELING Q & A

What is professional counselling?
Counselling is a collaborative effort between the counsellor and client. Professional counsellors help clients identify goals and potential solutions to problems which cause emotional turmoil; seek to improve communication and coping skills; strengthen self-esteem;  promote behaviour change and optimise your mental health.

How long does counselling take?
Ideally, counselling is terminated when the problem that you pursued counselling for becomes more manageable or is resolved.

I can work with you on a long term or short-term basis depending on your individual needs. Therapy can provide support, problem-solving skills, and enhance coping for depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, unresolved childhood issues, and even spiritual conflicts.

Initial session

Our first meeting will last 1 hour, for which you will pay £50 for individuals/couples fee from £75+. You may ask me any questions that you may need clarifying. Once we agree to work together, we will meet weekly or fortnightly at an agreed time for an hour per session.

In the initial meeting I will invite you to identify what you feel is important for me to know about you. This includes the difficulties you might be experiencing and what has led you to seek counselling at this stage. By doing this, we can begin to try and understand what you hope to achieve or gain from counselling.

INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING

Individual counselling is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times in life. Individual counselling can help one deal with many personal topics in life such as anger, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, marriage and relationship challenges, parenting problems, school difficulties, career changes, social anxiety etc.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
