About me

Hi, my name is Nathan.
Firstly, thanks for stopping by :)

I am a trauma-informed, integrative therapist with NHS experience. Being trauma-informed means that I use a specific approach to therapy that recognizes and emphasizes understanding how the traumatic experience impacts a person’s mental well-being. This type of therapy is rooted in understanding the connection between the trauma experience and the person’s emotional and behavioral responses.

Being integrative means that I can work at your pace with a wide variety of skills tailored to suit your individual needs. I am aware that therapy is not a “one size fits all” and I pride myself in working with you to reconnect you with your values in life.

I manage my time between my role in private practice and at a charitable organisation in Huddersfield. I have been qualified for over 6 years now gaining over 1000 clinical and supervised hours.

I know how hard it can be, looking for a therapist of your own, not really knowing what you want or need at times, and there are so many people to choose from.
What is important for me is that therapeutic relationship. I pride myself in being real, genuine, warm, and funny at times (providing that this is appropriate) I find that a smile and a laugh can open the door to your relationship with your therapist, which in turn, provides a safe, meaningful, and compassionate place to bring whatever you feel you need to bring to our sessions.

If you feel like you’re stuck in a particular place, and you can’t get out, or maybe you’re troubled by your own thoughts and that critical voice we all hear from time to time? I offer a warm and compassionate approach to helping you navigate your life back on track. People are often driven by all kinds of agendas, whether it’s life goals or troubled pasts. Allow me to help you make sense of what you want and feel by creating a friendly and safe environment within sessions.

I understand how difficult it can be to face your fears and explore the things that appear to be troubling you, but I am here to help you take those first steps.

Training, qualifications & experience

I currently hold a masters degree with Salford university in counselling and psychotherapy and have a wide range of experience working within the NHS and charity sectors as a therapist. I manage my time between my role here and at a charitable organisation in Huddersfield. I have been qualified for several years now gaining over 1500 clinical and supervised hours and am currently in the process of gaining my professional accreditation. during my time as a qualified therapist, I have also undertaken training in (ACT) acceptance and commitment therapy, (DBT) dialectical behavioural therapy "skills coaching" training and a mindfulness teaching qualification.

I pride myself in being an integrative therapist, who can tailor your sessions to suit your needs using a wide range of core theories.

my background prior to being a therapist stems from a 12 year career in mental health settings, working predominantly in secondary care within hospitals collaboratively working within a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, other therapists and social workers.
