About me

When was the last time you felt truly listened to and understood?

Hello, I'm Monique. I’m 54 years old, and like you, I've had my share of doubts, fears, grief, and dilemmas. I've made choices - some good, some not so good. I know what it's like to feel shame, guilt, confusion, and anxiety. Talk to someone who really gets you and wants to support you. You can tell me anything - I will never dismiss or criticise you because I've been there myself. Life can get easier. I can help.

Nobody’s experiences are exactly the same as yours - that's why I genuinely want to hear your story.  An experienced counsellor, psychotherapist, and trauma therapist, I feel passionate about my clients’ wellbeing and am genuinely interested in what you bring to the counselling room. Yes, I will occasionally challenge you but I will always be on your side.

Having been through a lot in my life I have an open mind to the most difficult or uncomfortable experiences and emotions - no matter what you are feeling, I will never judge you. You, my client, are special to me - I value and respect your courage to explore your inner world.

Sometimes it can be hard to describe your experience in words. Sometimes words alone don't make sense. I work with words but also with your body. I look for suspended feelings and sensations that haven't been fully resolved.. I also use techniques that go beyond simply understanding  - yes, understanding is important but often just because you understand why something is happening doesn't mean you can change how you feel or react.

Asking for help is a brave thing to do. Be brave. The sooner you take the first step towards a brighter future, the sooner it will become a reality. Message me - I will reply the same day.

What I offer:

  • Emotional Support: You will be met with respect, kindness, and an open mind.
  • Insight and Understanding: Together, we will uncover patterns in your thoughts and behaviours, helping you gain clarity and self-awareness, and figure out what works best for you
  • Personal Growth: I will help to improve your relationships, build confidence, and tackle any dilemmas, taking into account the emotional, mental, and relational aspects of your life
  • Healing from Trauma:  If you’ve been through painful experiences, I’ll help you process those in a safe and supportive way

Approach to Counseling: My approach is flexible and tailored to meet your unique needs, whether you're seeking immediate relief or long-term personal development. I draw on elements of Person-Centred Therapy, Psychobiology, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic Approach, Art Therapy, and Gestalt.

I have helped clients with many different concerns, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, grief, relationship problems, depression, ADHD, family issues, stress, PTSD, loneliness, eating disorders, abuse, and other issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
