About me

When was the last time you felt truly listened to and understood?

Hello, I’m Monique. Sometimes it can be difficult to open up about our problems, even when we really want to. We might worry about appearing foolish or weak, or fear that nobody will truly get it. I want you to know that I genuinely care about hearing your story, and I will try hard to understand what you are going through.

You really can tell me anything. Life can throw obstacles we never imagined, sometimes leaving us overwhelmed, stuck, or acting in ways we don’t fully understand. Whatever you’re feeling, you won’t be dismissed or judged here.

You can bring everything to therapy - the parts that feel too much, too strange, or too hard to say out loud. At times, I may gently challenge you, but I will always be on your side. An experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I deeply respect the courage it takes to reach out and make changes.

Counselling involves talking, but there is often more beneath the surface. Sometimes words aren’t enough. You may notice emotions, thoughts, or bodily reactions that are hard to explain or make sense of. I work in a way that connects the mind and body, helping to resolve what feels stuck rather than simply analysing it.

Perhaps you already understand where your difficulties came from, yet still feel unable to move forward. Insight and logic are important, but they’re not always enough to change how we feel or react in everyday life. I can help with that. We can use a range of different approaches, or simply stay with conversation - my style is adaptable and tailored, and you won’t be slotted into a rigid method.

If you’re unsure, you’re very welcome to request a free, no-obligation phone chat. It’s an opportunity to ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and see whether we might be a good fit.

Reach out. I usually reply the same day, and I’d be honoured to hear from you.

What I offer:

  • A safe space: Kindness, honesty, and a real connection - no masks, no pressure.
  • Insight and understanding:  I’ll help you spot and shift unhelpful thoughts, emotions, or behaviours.
  • Personal growth: I will help to improve your relationships, build confidence, and tackle any dilemmas, taking into account the emotional, mental, and relational aspects of your life
  • Healing from trauma:  If you’ve been through painful experiences, we’ll unpack them at your pace. I’ll be there with you, without rushing or avoiding the hard stuff.

Approach to Counseling:
I draw from person-centred therapy, psychobiology, psychodynamic ideas, mindfulness, art and body-based therapies.

I have helped clients with many different concerns, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, grief, relationship problems, depression, ADHD, family issues, stress, PTSD, loneliness, eating disorders, abuse, and other issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
