About me
Hello,
Thank you for visiting my page.
My name is Michelle, I am a qualified, accredited counsellor providing short term and long term therapy to adult individuals and couples.
If you are reading this it is likely you are experiencing difficulties in your life which may be causing you to feel worried, anxious or unhappy. I understand this can feel overwhelming at times and it can be difficult to know what to do or where to turn. I know from my own personal experience and from clients how important it is to be able to talk to someone you feel able to trust. I am here to help you take the first steps in being able to do just this.
I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor and offer a warm, caring and professional service. I am here to support you with whatever you are dealing with, this may be a specific issue or it may be that things just don't feel ok at the moment. Together we can explore your situation, what this meaning this has for you and find positive ways of moving forward.
I have experience of helping people work through various life challenges including relationship difficulties, bereavement, loss, anxiety, chronic illness, depression and stress.
I love my role as a counsellor and I am deeply committed to helping people work through the challenges life brings and build hope for a brighter future.
The therapeutic relationship with your counsellor is very important. In fact it is noted in research that this is a main indicator of counselling having successful outcomes. It is important you feel heard, respected and supported without fear of judgement. I feel passionate about this and strive to building a trusting and authentic relationship with all my clients.
It is essential you feel comfortable and at ease with your chosen counsellor. It is for this reason I offer a 30 minute telephone consultation free of charge. This will give you the opportunity to hear how I work, discuss your needs and consider how we may work together moving forward. If during this consultation I feel I am unable to provide the support you need, I will signpost you to other services to ensure you receive the best support you can.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds with a diverse range of life challenges. As a qualified counsellor I have been awarded accreditation with The National Counselling Society (NCS) which requires me to provide evidence of qualifications and adherence to professional ethical standards.
I have regular supervision, both individually and as part of a group of qualified counsellors as per the guidelines for the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am trained as an intergretive counsellor which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of each client.
I have a background in social work and experience of working alongside education, police and health services. I have always had a passion for working therapeutically throughout my career, developing this to my current role as a qualified counsellor. My core training has been undertaken with Relate.
In addition to this I regularly attend training courses, workshops and conferences as part of my professional development and to ensure my practice is up to date and as best practice.
