About me
Hello,
Thank you for visiting my page.
My name is Michelle. I am a qualified and accredited counsellor who offers both short-term and long-term therapy to adults and couples.
If you are reading this, you may be experiencing difficulties in your life that are causing you to feel worried, anxious, or unhappy. I understand that these feelings can be overwhelming and knowing what steps to take or where to turn can be challenging. From my personal experiences and those of my clients, I recognise the importance of being able to talk to someone you trust. I am here to help you take the first steps in doing just that.
As a fully qualified and experienced counsellor, I provide a warm, caring, and professional service. I am here to support you with whatever you are facing, whether it’s a specific issue or a general feeling that things aren't okay at the moment. Together, we can explore your situation, understand its meaning for you, and find positive ways to move forward.
I have experience helping people through various life challenges, including relationship difficulties, bereavement, loss, anxiety, chronic illness, depression, and stress. I genuinely love my role as a counsellor and am deeply committed to assisting people in navigating life's challenges and building hope for a brighter future.
The therapeutic relationship between you and your counsellor is crucial. Research indicates that this relationship is a key factor in the successful outcomes of counselling. It’s important that you feel heard, respected, and supported without fear of judgment. I am passionate about fostering a trusting and authentic relationship with all my clients.
It is essential that you feel comfortable with your chosen counsellor. For this reason, I offer a free 30-minute telephone consultation. This is an opportunity for you to understand how I work, discuss your needs, and consider how we might work together moving forward. If, during this consultation, I feel I am unable to provide the support you need, I will guide you towards other services to ensure you receive the best possible support.
Training, qualifications & experience
I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds with a diverse range of life challenges. As a qualified counsellor I have been awarded accreditation with The National Counselling Society (NCS) which requires me to provide evidence of qualifications and adherence to professional ethical standards.
I have regular supervision, both individually and as part of a group of qualified counsellors as per the guidelines for the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I am trained as an intergretive counsellor which means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of each client.
I have a background in social work and experience of working alongside education, police and health services. I have always had a passion for working therapeutically throughout my career, developing this to my current role as a qualified counsellor. My core training has been undertaken with Relate, and I am an approved practitioner for NHS talking therapies, Couple Therapy for Depression.
In addition to this I regularly attend training courses, workshops and conferences as part of my professional development and to ensure my practice is up to date and as best practice.
