About me

I'm Michael, an integrative counsellor working in Clapham, North Clapham,  Balham and the surrounding area.

I believe the transformation that can happen within Counselling is life-changing. When you learn how to open up, share and reflect on the inner workings of your world with someone, amazing things can happen. With the support of the right professional, you can understand, process and overcome the things that have seemed insurmountable for so long.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I am trained in several different approaches to working with mental health and wellness. Once I understand more about what it’s like to be you, and what’s going on for you right now, I will use the combination of techniques and interventions that I believe will be of most help.

I don’t underestimate how big, and sometimes daunting, the decision to seek support is for my clients. People come to Counselling with me from all walks of life, and it’s my passion to help them work through their challenges and reach their full potential.

Training, qualifications & experience

My training to become a qualified and registered integrative counsellor was over a period of four years and it covered many different approaches to counselling. I became interested in counselling after going down a rocky path in my late twenties.

The life experience that came with that, as well as the self-development work that led me through it, helped me deepen my self-knowledge and my empathy. I have a deep understanding and knowledge of Addiction to alcohol and drugs, as well as many other common addictions like gambling, sex, and shopping.

In my practice, I love working with people from all walks of life with a diverse range of challenges to become a better version of themselves and reach their full potential. With the support of the right professional, you can begin to validate and accept yourself, tap into your joy and ultimately, look to change your story.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
