About me

Working with adults, couples and children (14yrs +) I offer a free 15 minute intro call so we can explore what support you would like and expect from counselling and how we can work together. I am a registered counsellor. I work face to face in Sidcup. I  provide support on a range of issues inc anxiety, depression, ADHD, low self esteem/confidence, infidelity, family issues, stress, abuse, addiction and self harm. I never thought I’d be a counsellor. I didn’t understand what counselling was or believe it could help until at a very difficult and low point in my life I tried it (after some persuasion) and it helped me more than I could ever have imagined. So now here I am, a CPCAB qualified integrative therapeutic counsellor and a member of the BACP

Life can be incredibly hard sometimes, it may even feel like the universe is out to get you. Perhaps on the surface things look great to others but inside you may be feeling, stuck, stressed, anxious, unhappy, discontented or low/depressed . Relationships, work, family life may be a struggle or perhaps you cannot put your finger on why you are feeling a certain way. It might not be one big thing but a mixture of everything.

I can offer you the opportunity to explore your feelings. I will support you as we do this without judgement but with kindness, warmth, empathy and honesty in a confidential environment. I work face to face in a lovely, private room just off Sidcup High Street with free parking.

It can be pretty daunting seeking help, reading all these profiles and all these qualifications and counselling terms, especially if you have never had counselling before or perhaps you’ve tried it previously and felt it hasn’t helped. That’s why I offer the free 15 minute phone consultation initially to see how we can work together. Therapy can be both hard and rewarding and there may be some difficult moments and perhaps tears but strangely there can be  some laughter too. We will work at a pace that suits you and I will always treat you as an individual. All of us are completely unique so my approach to each of my clients is unique.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with adults, couples and teens of all ages and backgrounds gained in my own private practice and a variety of charities over many years. I have extensive experience working with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, low self esteem/confidence, family/relationship issues,  bereavement/loss, self-harm, panic attacks, trauma, body image, suicidal ideation, anger and menopause

I am trained across a number of modalities including person centred, CBT, psychodynamic, attachment,  transactional analysis, gestalt, existential and creative therapies.

All our work together is confidential. There are some exceptions for ethical and legal reasons and we can  discuss these in detail at our first meeting.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
