About me

Welcome. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Struggling to make any sense of your life? Perhaps you feel completely stuck and you're looking for some direction or you just need a safe and supportive space to talk?

Whatever your reason you are very welcome here.

I'm Lorraine an Integrative Counsellor and I work with adults and young people (11+) both in person and online. I'm empathic, warm and friendly and my aim is to make sure you feel comfortable and informed throughout our work together. My core 'person-centred approach' supports you in a space where you can be heard, free from judgement and opinion; a place where you feel supported and safe enough to explore all aspects of your difficulties at a pace that's right for you.

Throughout my work, I make use of other theories and interventions to offer sessions that are as individual as you. There is no one size fits all!

In our first session, we will discuss your hopes and goals for our work together and I will begin to find out about you and the difficulties you are experiencing. From here we will continue to work together on a weekly basis. Reviews will take place at regular intervals to assess your progress as well as check in on your current needs and goals.

Counselling can be both short and long-term and can be experienced in person in my warm, welcoming environment based in the beautiful Cromford Mills. I also work online via the Zoom platform anywhere in the UK.

Counselling can be an emotional and challenging process but you can be assured that I will be alongside you, mindful to your experience and supporting you throughout. As a member of the BACP, safety and ethics are always at the forefront of my work. www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework/

If my approach feels like it could potentially be the start of your journey or you have any questions, then please take a moment to contact me. From here we can then arrange a free telephone consultation to ascertain if you'd like to work together.

The first step is always the hardest but I will be with you all the way.

Warmest regards Lorraine.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
