About me

who am I?

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with 16 years experience working frontline with children, young people and adults.

Do you feel stuck, confused, frustrated? Maybe you are experiencing struggles in your relationships, or your career isn’t where you thought it would be. Perhaps you feel a deep, inner sense that life could be better. Clients come to me to work through difficulties with anxiety, isolation, loneliness, stress, low mood, depression, low self esteem and relationships. All of which can be improved by working with an effective therapist.

I am a trauma informed and trauma focused therapist. I bring to my work a specialist understanding of relational traumas such as childhood neglect, abandonment or physical/sexual/emotional abuse. I have also worked extensively  with victims of intimate partner violence/domestic abuse and behaviours such as coercive control, 'gaslighting', sexual violence, physical, criminal and emotional exploitation.

As an integrative therapist, I work collaboratively with you. In understanding your unique needs, personality and values we can draw on a combination of therapy processing, and educational techniques to disrupt old patterns, heal emotional wounds, feel less anxious and deepen your connection with yourself and your life.

I believe that compassion, empathy, and living life with purpose can free you from any self- limiting thoughts, beliefs and doubts. My therapy practice is a calm, non judgemental environment offering containment, safety and trust.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

As part of my formal qualification I was trained in the use of the personal consultancy framework. This is a way of working that brings together aspects of coaching and counselling. Together we look at ways of rebalancing our thoughts and feelings so we can address any conflicts that might be acting as barriers to living authentically. The time and length of this journey is decided in collaboration between you and myself.
