About me

Who am I?

Welcome, I'm Lisette. I am an experienced registered counsellor. I bring myself to my practice which means I work with integrity, honesty and respect. I aim to provide you with a safe and open environment, filled with support, compassion and understanding so that you are given freedom to explore whatever you feel is needed.

I have over 15 years of experience working in the social care sector,  offering specialist support and interventions to both adults, children and young people. I have worked specifically in the area of trauma and recovery. This means that I have particular understanding and experience of working with anxiety, depression, stress, low self esteem and loss.

I have worked for 14 years with a specialist organisation supporting the recovery of individuals from experiences of exploitation. This work has given me a deep understanding of power and control and emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

Over the course of my professional career I have engaged in high levels of training which has developed my practice in areas such as attachment, relational conflict, self development and managing complex emotions.

What can I Offer?

I am an integrative counsellor. This means I have been trained in a range of counselling techniques and approaches, allowing me to shape my practice around each clients individual needs.

I believe in working collaboratively, so together we choose the starting point and the most effective therapies, adapting and changing according to your needs within the counselling process.

Most importantly I will offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space in order for us establish a partnership built on trust and authenticity.

Whatever brings you here, whether you might be looking for support around a specific issue, or struggling with an experience in the past or present. Perhaps you’re wanting to make a change and feel like things are stuck and you are constantly having the same negative results.

You might not even be able to put your finger on it, perhaps everything feels wrong or you can't shake the sadness or disconnection! Counselling is an opportunity for you to reconnect with yourself, to develop a greater awareness of your thoughts and feelings, make sense of things, and most importantly feel empowered to live a life of your own design.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, and I encourage you to get in touch if you have any questions!

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

As part of my formal qualification I was trained in the use of the personal consultancy framework. This is a way of working that brings together aspects of coaching and counselling. Together we look at ways of rebalancing our thoughts and feelings so we can address any conflicts that might be acting as barriers to living authentically. The time and length of this journey is decided in collaboration between you and myself.
