MBACP (Accred) Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist

About me

I'm Lisette, a BACP accredited integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with nearly 20 years of experience working with children, young people, and adults. I work extensively with anxiety and depression, and I specialise in attachment and relational trauma — particularly where that trauma has roots in close relationships.

Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling anxious, low, or disconnected — sometimes struggling with relationships, confidence, or a sense of who they are. I work extensively with anxiety and depression. Others are healing from difficult or traumatic experiences and want to find calm, balance, and self-understanding.

I specialise in attachment and relational trauma, with extensive experience in supporting people through sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, coercive control, grooming, and exploitation (both online and offline). I also work with the nuances of familial abuse and relational challenges. Together, we can gently make sense of what feels painful, build new ways of coping, and create space for healing and self-compassion.

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed. On a foundation of attachment and relational understanding, I work with the mind, body, and brain — helping you pause and listen to what your thoughts and feelings are communicating, and understanding the underlying needs they point to. I draw on approaches including Emotion-Focused Therapy, somatic (body-based) work, polyvagal theory (nervous system), and psycho-education.

I'm also a qualified EMDR therapist registered with EMDR UK. EMDR is a powerful approach for processing trauma and distressing experiences, and I am able to offer this to both current and new clients. Whether that's exploring the past, working with emotions in the body, or finding practical tools for the present — you set the pace, and I walk alongside you.

I offer a warm, calm, and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, supported, and safe to be yourself. Reaching out can feel daunting, but it's also an act of courage — and a step toward feeling more grounded, connected, and free.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

As part of my formal qualification I was trained in the use of the personal consultancy framework. This is a way of working that brings together aspects of coaching and counselling. Together we look at ways of rebalancing our thoughts and feelings so we can address any conflicts that might be acting as barriers to living authentically. The time and length of this journey is decided in collaboration between you and myself.
