About me
I am an experienced therapist with many years experience of working with individuals and couples. I have a person centred trauma informed approach which means that I will work with your own individual needs and tailor my approach accordingly. This will help you work towards achieving what you want and ultimately feel better. I provide long term and short term therapy. I will challenge you to work hard as I believe that people can adjust their behaviours if they want their lives to change for the better. I will help you every step of the way to make sure that this is not a quick fix, but something long lasting.
I have 30+ years experience of working with people who have suffered trauma, anxiety, bereavement and depression. I have a particular interest in working with women and men to empower them to know, understand, and unapologetically be their true selves, improving self esteem and confidence in life, and relationships.
The first session is where you can share all of your presenting issues and we can work out together the best way forward. This is also so that we can meet as people and see if we could work well together. Following the initial assessment we will continue to regularly work using whichever modality we have decided on as the best to address the issues discussed
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a CPCAB Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Level 4. I am working towards CPCAB Level 5 post qualifying Certificate in Relational Counselling.
I have a varied professional experience. I worked in Children’s Service's, Health and Social Care for over 15 Years, working with Children and Young people in the Care System. I have over 13 years’ experience working with Women’s Aid, working with individuals and their families who have been at risk of significant harm, and understanding the ongoing impact this can have on our lives. Due to this experience, I have a particular interest in working with women and men to empower them to know, understand, and unapologetically be their true selves, improving self esteem and confidence in life, dating and relationships.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
