About me

I created Avon Counselling to provide therapeutic support to anyone needing professional assistance and guidance with resolving personal problems. I am committed to helping people to talk about their issues, think about their choices and behaviour, and make positive changes to move forward. My approach to therapy is innovative and unique, and certainly not 'textbook' counselling.

My aim is to fully engage with my clients and provide the necessary level of service to bring about a successful outcome for them. I pride myself on offering a friendly but high standard of personal service which is tailor-made to the individual. I am a fully qualified counsellor who is dedicated in providing a safe space in which you can explore your feelings, in confidence and without any judgement.

I am also an Alcohol Coach - Therapist with a wealth of knowledge in alcohol support services and I am passionate about helping people to break free from the confines of alcohol dependency.

I am currently championing a Walk and Talk service, that provides a little gentle exercise and re-connection with nature, whilst providing a friendly, non-judgemental and confidential counselling service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I offer a Walk and Talk service - a little exercise at your own pace and the chance to reconnect with nature, with a fully qualified counsellor. Walk and talk therapy is growing in popularity as an amazing form of therapy, for anyone, of any age or level of fitness, to benefit from. Exercise has been proven to improve mental health and recognised health benefits can be gained from nature.

If the thought of being face to face in a therapy room may not be for you, you can go for a walk with a friendly counsellor, who is there to listen to you and help you work through any issues. You can try a walk and talk session in a lovely setting by the river and theatre in Stratford upon Avon.
