About me

I have treated individuals in clinical, private, community and social settings. I use a collaborative approach and have experience working with issues such as; Panic Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Agoraphobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Pain Management, Relationship Problems, Sleep Disturbances, Abuse, Poor Self Esteem, Social Phobia, Specific Phobias, Anger Management, Eating Disorders, Greif, Addictions, Personality Disorders, Self Harm, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Worrying, Assertiveness Skills and Social Skills Training.

My role is to facilitate positive change and to utilise your core skills to create new choices and to facilitate changes with unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviours. I provide a non-judgemental, confidential and trusting space for you to talk, and be heard where you can explore issues of distress.

We will work together to resolve these issues. I will support you to find ways to express and understand your thoughts, emotions and behaviours and to recognise that positive change is possible in times of difficulties.

I have experience running weight management intervention groups designed to focus on the individual's relationship with food and examine how this affects their wellbeing and weight maintenance.

I have experience of working within Learning Disability Services with Tayside NHS and have expertise in autism, mild and moderate learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. I am trained in the assessment of autism and learning disabilities. Having worked in an NHS Clinical setting as an Assistant Clinical Psychologist, I have considerable experience of the tools required to complete assessment reports.

I also have many years experience of working with young people and adults with varying mental health, alcohol and drug issues as well as experience of the effects of chaotic lifestyles, such as homelessness.

I offer face to face and online appointments.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
