About me

Welcome to The Selfcare Hour's Counselling services. My name is Lauren and I am a dedicated and compassionate counsellor, with a focus on supporting anxiety, stress management, adolescent mental health and a keen focus on men's mental health. I have honed my skills to provide a supportive and nurturing envrionment where clients can explore their feelings, overcome challenges and achieve personal growth.

What You Will Gain

At my practice, clients benefit from a tailored approach that addresses their unique needs and goals. I work with all ages and genders, and my services are designed to help you:

  • Manage Anxiety: Develop practical strategies to reduce anxiety and regain control over your life.
  • Stress Management: Learn effective techniques to cope with stress, improve resilience, and enhance your overall wellbeing.

Why Choose Me?

People who come to see me are those who may be struggling with difficulties around low self-esteem, depression, body image, anxiety, gender issues, substance abuse and variations of trauma. This is not an exhaustive list though and I am happy to explore anything that comes my way.

I will utilize creative methods in my counselling practice when appropriate, to help you communicate things that might be hard to express in words. I believe that the key to creating lasting change is in improving the quality of your relationships and helping you notice the patterns that make you feel stuck.

My commitment to your mental health goes beyond traditional counselling. I offer a holistic approach that considers all aspects of life, ensuring comprehensive support and sustainable progress. Having sat in the counselling chair myself, I can say that it is the first step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.

If you would like to find out more, I offer a free 15 minute introductory call. If you would prefer to dive straight in, we can book an initial session to get to know eachother. You can email me directly or make a booking request through my website or on Counselling Directory.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
