About me

Hello, my name is Laura, and I am a BACP registered therapist, with working experience in the NHS.

When things are troubling you and you're feeling anxious and stressed, talking with friends only goes so far. In their desire to help, they shower you with advice, try to cheer you up and distract you. But when distraction is no longer an option and you want to face what it is that is troubling you, then I am here for you.

Sometimes we need professional help to focus our attention on aspects of our physical, mental, and emotional experience.

I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space to help you process and understand your challenges and offer practical tools to manage them.

Embarking on therapy can feel daunting but, once the decision to give it a try is made, many people feel a flood of relief and excitement for what lays ahead.

Email me today to book a free 20 minute consultation to see how I can support you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a professionally trained Integrative-Relational Psychotherapeutic Counsellor using a range of psychotherapeutic theories (including somatic therapy, psychodynamic, gestalt, neuroscience and creative work) which allows me to value the uniqueness of each client.

Additionally, my clients benefit from my training in Compassionate Inquiry, Internal Family Systems and The Rewind Technique for trauma relief.

Good therapy needs to have a structure, and I use the RIGAAR structure of the Human Givens Institute to help my clients set goals, access resources and rehearse success in therapy together.

I also work creatively, using tools like therapy cards, buttons, wooden dolls, coloured pens and paper, to engage both hemispheres of the brain and help you make sense of what is troubling you and what solutions might be available.

I have experience working with a variety of clients in the NHS, through the IAPT improving access to psychological treatments.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
