About me

I'm able to offer integrative psychotherapeutic counselling for children, young people and adults tailored specifically to the client’s individual needs.

I have a particular interest and personal experience in the role of therapy for young people with autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD and issues that often face the LGBTQ+ community, especially gender identity issues.

I have a Masters in CYP integrative psychotherapeutic counselling from Birmingham City University and currently work as a school counsellor at an inner city school in Birmingham offering bespoke therapy for pupils aged between 5-18 years of age.

I also worked for many years as a schoolteacher so have extensive knowledge and experience of child development and the many pastoral and mental health issues that young people face. I have a passion for helping young people be able to express and explore themselves and process their experiences in a safe space, allowing healing, building resilience and self-confidence to enable them to develop their best self.

As an integrative therapist I have had training in many theoretical perspectives of psychotherapy including neuroscience based somatic trauma therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, psychoanalytic therapy appropriately applied in a person centred humanistic approach.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Qualified and experienced to see children, young people and adults.

Often as adults it is trauma carried from our childhood and behaviour patterns subconsciously learned during this period that no longer serve us and lead to difficulties with our sense of self, self esteem and an inability to move forward. My extensive Masters level training in therapy for young people gives me specialist insight into issues that adults have carried through from their childhood and adolescence.
