About me

Hello, I am Kathryn. I offer bespoke individual and couples counselling in the centre of Newark on Trent, and online with clients based anywhere. My counselling room is in the Market Place and public parking is just a few minutes walk away. It is also easily accessible by bus or train.

Individual therapy

Are you looking for a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental counsellor to support you in exploring an issue that is distressing you? I welcome you to explore and express all layers of you and your unique experience. You may want to use this time to talk about a specific issue or maybe you would like some space to look at your life in depth. I aim to offer you the support to talk things through to try and make some sense of it all.

I believe in the power of compassion and I will listen with an open mind and heart to your experience. This can be a powerful, holding experience and can help to increase your own self-compassion which can have ripple effects throughout your life.

I work within the Person-Centred modality which means that our time is spent focusing on how your world is feeling for you. Your story is unique and complex; this is why my goal is for you to feel respected and safe to embark on your own journey of self-discovery and healing. Although I will be using theory in our work together, our time together will be to support you to find the best way forward for you.

I work with a range of clients with a variety of needs (such as anxiety, low mood, depression, relationship issues and ADHD) but have a great deal of experience working with bereavement and loss. Experiencing a loss can be one of the toughest life challenges. I can be with you as you move through the human experience of mourning and help you, very gently, to learn to live with the loss.

Information for couples counselling

If you’re interested in Couple’s Counselling, it’s likely that something is not working within your intimate relationship. Maybe feelings have changed or you are both stuck in a pattern of conflict and feel unable to resolve things. It could be that help is needed to recover from an affair. You have both recognised that something needs to change.

Couple’s Counselling can be used as a space to work together and build a stronger future or it could be that the solution is separating with mutual respect.

In our time together, we can explore intimacy, attachment styles, conflict resolution, affairs, communication and blended families.

Whatever your end goal, my role as a Couple’s Counsellor is to support you both in noticing repeating patterns and to re-establish communication and empathy. Counselling can provide you with the dedicated space you need to unpick these patterns. This can be hard work and it requires commitment, even between sessions.

My pledge to you both is neutrality, fairness and compassion. If both of you would like to try it out, get in touch for a full initial session in order to get a good sense of what it is like working together.

The cost for couples counselling is:

Couples  Counselling 1 hour - £70

Couples Counselling 1 hour on Saturday mornings - £90

Outdoor therapy

As an addition to my usual therapy,  I am now pleased to offer Outside Talking Therapy in locations in the Rushcliffe Borough of Nottingham.  Being outdoors and active can help to reduce anxiety, stress and intrusive thoughts. The walking (taken at your own pace) can energise you, regulate your emotions and alleviate feelings of being 'stuck'.
