About me
Hello, I am Kathryn. I offer weekly, individual and couples counselling in the centre of Newark on Trent, and online with clients based anywhere.
COUPLES COUNSELLING
Building connection
My aim is to help you to move forwards in the way that works for both of you. This may be improving communication between you both, recognising and changing patterns of behaviour or working through conflict. This can be a special time for you both to proactively work on your intimate relationship. This can be a protected time and space for you to express your thoughts and be heard by each other.
Communication, resentment, intimacy and differing parenting styles are some of the themes that I regularly work with.
Our work is focussed on your relationship, whilst also respecting your separate needs and providing opportunity for individual growth. Individual sessions are offered as part of the Couple's Counselling as a place for you to express your perspectives on the relationship,
Pre-marital counselling
Pre-marital counselling is a structured process based on themes for you both to explore. This can be a special time to discuss your hopes and any fears and iron out any issues at an early stage.
Counselling to facilitate a calm and respectful separation
You may have both agreed that your relationship has come to an end and counselling can help you both to navigate a stressful and uncertain time, This can be a dedicated time for you both to discuss the separation in a calm and respectful manner with a neutral, third person.
Whatever is happening in your relationship, I can work with you to meet your needs.
I work with heterosexual or same sex couples.
The cost for couples counselling is:
Couples Counselling 1 hour - £70
Couples Counselling 1 hour on Saturday mornings - £90
Online therapy
Online counselling for couples can be especially convenient when you're both trying to work around your professional or caring schedules.
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING
I welcome you to explore any issues that are causing you distress. Your life is unique and I will be alongside you as you reflect on patterns, changes and feelings of 'stuckness' in your life. You may want to use this time to talk about a specific issue or maybe you would like some space to look at your life in depth. I aim to offer you the support to talk things through to try and make some sense of it all to enable you to move forwards with confidence.
I believe in the power of compassion and I will listen with an open mind to your experience. This can be a powerful, holding experience and can help to increase your own self-compassion which can have ripple effects throughout your life.
My goal is for you to feel respected and safe to embark upon your own journey of self-discovery and healing. Although I will be using theory in our work together, our time together will be to support you to find the best way forward for you.
I work with a range of clients with a variety of needs (such as anxiety, low mood, depression, relationship issues and ADHD) but have a great deal of experience working with bereavement and loss. Experiencing a loss can be one of the toughest life challenges. I can be with you as you move through the human experience of mourning and help you, very gently, to learn to live with the loss.
Outdoor therapy
As an addition to my usual therapy, I am now pleased to offer Outside Talking Therapy in locations in the Rushcliffe Borough of Nottingham. Being outdoors and active can help to reduce anxiety, stress and intrusive thoughts. The walking (taken at your own pace) can energise you, regulate your emotions and alleviate feelings of being 'stuck'.
