About me

I am a BACP registered and experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor.  I specialize in working with Adults (18+) who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self confidence/self esteem, family and relationship issues, trauma, anger, bereavement, amongst others.  I offer a safe, non-judgemental and empathetic therapeutic space where, through self-reflection and exploration at your own pace, you can gain the knowledge, tools and insights needed to create lasting and meaningful change.

In the psychodynamic / psychoanalytic tradition, I believe that by gaining insight into the unconscious dynamics that influence your thoughts and behaviors, you can experience lasting positive change in your emotions, confidence, relationships and mental well-being that goes beyond surface-level diagnosis and symptom management.   I focus on working with you to explore and address deep-seated patterns that may be causing difficult emotions or preventing your from enjoying life to its fullest.

With over 20 years experience helping individuals achieve their personal and professional development goals as a leadership development executive, organizational psychology expert and executive coach, I deeply understand that many of the challenges people face (in our personal wellbeing or in the workplace) are underpinned by emotional difficulties and long established unconscious patterns and thoughts that are repeated from early life experiences. My interest and experience in helping people foster meaningful and lasting change in their wellbeing led me to undertake a Masters Degree in psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

I offer a free introductory 20 minute phone call for new clients so you can share why you are looking for therapy and I can answer any initial question you may have before you decide to book an initial consultation.

Your first session will be an initial consultation that lasts 50 minutes and costs £65.  We will review what has brought you to therapy in more detail, your personal background, and any therapy/counselling background and medical history. It is also a chance for you to see if you are comfortable that we can work together, answer any further questions you may have and I can ensure that my practice is suitable to meet your needs.

I will then discuss my recommendations for future work together for you to consider, such as short term or open ended therapy options.  In some instances, the initial consultation may take more than one session to get a complete picture before a recommendation can be made.

Depending on individual circumstances, I may recommend a longer initial consultation that lasts 1hour 15min (for a fee of £85).
