About me

Hello, it's Katie. If you are seeking counselling support to promote your wellbeing in gaining insight and self awareness for your personal difficulties, I am trained, experienced and skilful with confidence for you to trust in a new confidential therapeutic relationship together to work collaboratively and individually to improve your mental health.

I practice creatively, mindfully with relaxation interventions putting you in the centre of the counselling work. It is key to support early intervention to enable you in preparation for adulthood on your onward journey where life can throw difficulties, so resilience needs to be independently embedded. Whatever age and stage in your life it is key to understand how you can improve your mental health to enjoy every day, make yourself a priority, putting yourself first and having love for yourself can create better healthier connections/relationships.

I have practiced as a counsellor for 28 years and excited to meet you. I offer counselling and supervision face to face and online. I am enthusiastic, motivated to help you succeed personally using a non judgemental presence in order to understand and accept you enabling you to find and reach your full potential.

It is a time to talk about your thoughts and feelings in depth to help make sense of them. By sharing your worries and being yourself we can work together to explore your chosen difficulties, putting you and your outcomes in the centre of our work to succeed in gaining positive outcomes to move forward. I will not give advice or tell you what to do, but support your own process and self governing.

Initially, we can meet and familiarise yourself with me and surroundings to complete an assessment in order to decide on individual appropriateness/suitability to allow navigation for best way forward for you which is a mutual process where you will be able to ask questions and feel clearer, allaying anxieties.

Training, qualifications & experience

My therapeutic approach is primarily person centred using blended approaches according to individual needs offering long term and short term interventions in a welcoming, comfortable, safe space.

I am also experienced with supporting people offering emotion focused therapy for anxiety and depression and also offer cognitive behavioural therapy skills interventions. We can explore experiences in order for you to think about ways to manage them differently and more productively. I see young people and adults to support them with trauma, anxiety, depression and bereavement.

My professional career journey began when I initially trained as Registered General Nurse in NHS age 18, leading me onto both supporting people mentally, physically, psychologically and emotionally as a counsellor working in mental health for 28 years with age 16 onwards and in more recent years working with Young People age 11 onwards. I see my focus is building a good therapeutic relationship informing respect, openness and transparency importantly in a safe, quiet space allowing your pace and individuality that you bring to see and hear you. It is a time to talk about your thoughts and feelings in depth to help make sense of them.

Throughout the counselling sessions, you will be involved in thinking about events from past which may affect how you are feeling or reacting now. Becoming more aware of your thoughts, feeling and behaviour and understanding yourself better enables you to make clear choices about what you do in the future. The amount of time you need varies for each individual and how much depth you wish to explore to satisfy your needs. Stop and be present in the moment, no time like today to refer and start your unique therapeutic journey of discovery and healing in a mindful way. Dont be alone, Please get in touch today – My Time Therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
