About me

I am a registered BACP counsellor who is in the process of seeking accreditation as a psychotherapist. I have over 700 hours of clinical experience and work part time for a charity specialising in eating disorders, which works with the NHS. As well as that I am in private practice and work with a range of mental health issues.

If you have happened upon this then you might have been struggling with something life has thrown at you, or you are simply feeling distress for seemingly no apparent reason, then I’m sorry if this is the case. You have taken an important step towards asking for help, which is commendable as well as daunting.

When working longer time, I believe in 'two-person' psychology, which means I honour the relationship between us can often model our experience of relationships outside of the therapy room, which helps to shed light on things. In shorter term work, I remain flexible in working 'integratively', by sometimes approaching the problem you bring from more than one theoretical position.

So, if there is something here that spoke to something in you, then please do not hesitate to email (or message) me requesting a day and time that works for you for a free 15 minute introduction over the telephone.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
