About me

Feeling anxious? Exhausted? Emotionally overwhelmed? Uncertain how to orientate in a rapidly-changing world? Old coping-strategies not working any more? Don’t know who to trust? Not sure who you are?

Maybe you were experiencing difficulties before the Covid-19 pandemic or maybe you’re among the millions whose mental health has been impacted by the ongoing global catastrophe. Either way, if you feel you might benefit from an opportunity to talk through your feelings with someone who won’t be shocked, doesn’t judge or minimise what you’re going through and who might see qualities in you and/or resources available to you that you’ve missed (since we all have our blind spots), why not call, text or email me to arrange an appointment?

I’m a BACP-registered psychotherapeutic counsellor in practice since 2005. Psychotherapy can help with alleviating depression, overcoming addictions, detoxifying relationships, managing crises, unblocking creativity, recovering from the past and building a future free of any self-sabotaging patterns that may have been holding you back. Whatever your reasons for seeking this kind of help, no matter who you are or what you've been through, our therapeutic relationship will deepen and intensify your capacity for meaning and fulfilment in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

BA (Hons), English Literature (1992)

MA, Contemporary Poetry (1993)

Post-graduate Diploma in Archetypal Psychology (2001)

Post-Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (2007)

My background is in the creative arts. Between 1995-2005 I fronted a succession of psychedelic rock groups, hoping to catalyse a Love Revolution for the 21st century. When that didn't work out I spent many years working for a well-known organisation offering psychotherapeutic support to survivors of sexual abuse, war trauma and human trafficking. I have worked extensively with traumatised clients of all ages and sociocultural backgrounds and helped hundreds of people find meaning and quality of life following experiences of deep suffering. Since 2019 I have focused exclusively on private practice, broadening my availability to anyone who might require help tackling life's obstacles, wherever in the world they might be.

In my spare time I'm writing a memoir.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
