About me

Hello and welcome to my profile. My name is Jolanta and I am a MBACP Registered Integrative Counsellor, working in a holistic and integrative with young people aged 16+, adults, older adults and couples in Surbiton.  I offer short and long-term counselling in person, online and over the phone.

I have 30 years experience of working as a qualified teacher, learning mentor and counsellor supporting young people and adults in further and higher education settings and in charitable organisations.

I have had a wonderful opportunity to work with clients from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, physically disabled, mild learning difficulties, neurodivergent clients (ADHD, Autism, Dyspraxia, and Dyslexia) Down's Syndrome and other conditions effecting their academic, social and emotional life and having a big impact on their personal lives and their relationships.

My integrative way of working with individual clients and couples, ranges from a person- centered (humanistic) and psychoanalytical approach, to a more directive CBT, NLP and coaching approach enhanced with self-compassion Mindfulness elements. I believe that each person is wonderfully unique and very special and therefore my role as a counsellor is to try to accommodate my therapy to your individual needs, expectations and your goals. I am also a great believer in a holistic way of working with you and your issues by exploring not only your emotional and mental state but also your physiological, spiritual, social and environmental needs.

The essential part of the therapy I offer is a compassionate, caring, safe,  confidential , warm, non-judgmental environment, where you as a client and me as a counsellor try to form a positive and honest therapeutic relationship. I would like you to feel comfortable and safe in my company and take your time to choose the right therapist for yourself.

During the session, I may use, for instance, a range of visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic ways of working such as: art therapy, music, self-reflection journals, written handouts, visualisation, role play, self-compassion techniques, guided meditation and other methods to suit your individual preferences and the presented issue.

I believe that commitment to therapy and self-care are very important elements of any therapy and therefore, I may try gently to encourage you to do some tasks on self-reflection and self-care between the sessions. After all, this will be your space for sharing and working out the problems that are troubling you and you will decide the pace you want to move at. I am here to support and guide you on your journey.

I hope that this brief explanation of my approach to counselling is helpful.

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to phone, or contact me via e-mail. I am available for free of charge  informal chat over the phone if you want to find out whether I am the right person for you.

Wishing you the best of luck in your search for the right therapist for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
