About me

We all know that life can have many challenges, especially in these current times. Things can feel unsettling, relationships challenging and being Human can feel hard. We also all have a past and it impacts on the present and potential future. However, I honestly believe that with the right support, the challenges we face can be overcome and become enablers for growth. Facing our fears and challenging ourselves with change can be difficult but rewarding. I am a genuine person and Counsellor, who has overcome my own challenges, and this enables me to be truly empathetic and non-judgmental in my approach. I embrace diversity and its richness and work inclusively with people from all walks of life, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, disability and age. I hope to build a trusting relationship that will empower you, or a special young person in your life, to heal and grow.

I work intuitively to connect with and best support you. My theoretical approach is integrative, combining different theories and approaches to best meet your needs.

I have 20 years’ experience as a Counsellor and have counselled for various agencies including Cruse Bereavement Care, Bedford Open Door and YiS Young Peoples Mental Health. I have also worked with Troubled Families and as a Careers Counsellor and also in a Care Home, supporting adult males with learning disabilities.

I have been able to build up vast experience in supporting others, specialising in supporting young people, childhood work, families, trauma and loss. This has been in a range of settings including in people’s houses, schools, drop-in centres, youth clubs, agencies and more recently online. I also have a good understanding of issues associated with addiction.

I have developed skills as a Relationship/Dating therapist and can work with you around your Attachment Style.

My motivation as a counsellor is to enable and empower others. I believe that by showing acceptance and empathy and meeting you ‘where you are’ is a good starting point.

I share tools including Mindfulness techniques where appropriate and these are tools that you take with you after sessions cease.

I bring myself and an open mind and heart to sessions, I hope this helps reassure and build trust so that you feel comfortable and safe to share. We work together as one to best support you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
