About me

It’s not easy starting therapy. Somehow we seem to be meant to sort things out on our own, not betray weakness. So firstly thanks for taking a first step. Perhaps you are dealing with a recent traumatic event, a loss or some change in circumstance that you need to deal with? Has something unexpected and undesired happened? Things may be making you feel anxious or sad or lonely, you may be uncertain about how to move forward, may have dilemmas that you need to sort out. Maybe you just need to know yourself better and discover some meaning in your life.

My name is Jeremy and I am a therapist. I will be on your side, to welcome all of you, the bits you like and are proud of and maybe the bits that you find it harder to like, perhaps things you have outgrown or would like to change. We can’t change the world but we can, perhaps, work out how to deal with it. No magic pill but if we work together, we can get to a better place.

You may want to work on specific issues for a limited time – perhaps six sessions and then review and decide whether to finish or continue. Possibly for you therapy will be more open-ended, involving a more in-depth exploration of your life and may last months or years. You will know when you feel that you have accomplished what you wanted to accomplish and feel ready to move on without support.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am trained to post graduate level and have wide experience across the spectrum.  I am extensively experienced - clients have come to me to work on their relationships, anxiety and depression, change of direction, substance abuse, lack of focus, coercive partners, childhood trauma, family issues, bereavement, etc.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
