About me
Hi my name is Jenny,
People attend counselling for many reasons.
You may have found your self here today, looking for help because when we experience overwhelming emotions that cause us sadness, we may begin to withdraw from life.
Sharing our feelings with another is healing, and helps ease our pain. You may be suffering from feelings of depression, low mood, low self-esteem, anxiety, stress, loneliness, anger, fear, uncertainty, loss, grief, identity issues, cultural issues, a lost sense of self, trauma, abuse, self harm or suicidal thoughts. You may feel misunderstood, or health or relationship difficulties may be having a significant affect on your physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing.
As an experienced person-centered counsellor I will work with you to explore what ever presenting problems you wish to bring to counselling, enabling you to work towards your personal goals and towards a healthier wellbeing, with better ways of coping.
Finding the right therapist and starting counselling can be daunting. I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation, where you can ask questions and determine if I am the right counsellor for you.
Person centred counselling is a talking therapy, a safe space where you can relieve the hurts and pain from any conflict you are experiencing. A space free from judgement, where you are heard, and you can be yourself, to process your thoughts and feelings through the support of a transparent, trusting, therapeutic relationship.
I work with Young people, and Adults offering both short term and long term therapy based on individual client need.
Counselling sessions last 50 minutes per session, and are either Online (via Zoom) or Telephone, I also offer In person face to face counselling.
I provide a caring, professional service dedicated to helping people find their path to better mental health and wellbeing, with the aim to enable clients with more fulfilling lives.
Training, qualifications & experience
My Background
I am an experienced qualified Person Centred Therapist, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Person-centred therapy is based on the view that everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change, given the right conditions. The counsellor offers unconditional positive regard, empathy and congruence, and is non-directive, to help you come to terms with any negative feelings you may be experiencing at your own pace.

My Experience
I have over twenty years extensive practice working in the Health & Social Sector, and Education Sector, working with Children, Young People and Adults struggling in many aspects of their daily lives, including mental health difficulties, learning difficulties, and physical health disabilities.
Together working in partnership with individuals, their families, and multi professional teams, to achieve best outcomes, working towards the individuals personal goals, and ensuring safe provision of care has been a key aspect of my roles.
My practice has involved the delivery of psycho education, as well as mental health and well-being interventions, to young people with emotional, and social difficulties, to enhance their wellbeing.
I have significant experience working with organisations and charities including;
Volunteer Counsellor at NSPCC offering online support to children and young people.
Volunteer Counsellor at a local non-profit community based organisation offering holistic and individual therapeutic services to Adults.
CYP Therapist working for a Youth Information Advice and Counselling Service working in partnership with the NHS and CAMHS with 11-25 year olds.
Research
I have completed Heuristic research in the experience of coming from a mixed-race heritage in terms of identity and belonging in the UK.
This has further enhanced my cultural awareness, and increased my awareness of the struggles that exist in society which impact peoples lives.
It has also highlighted the importance of person centred theory, and how counselling is a valuable approach to exploring cultural identity.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
