About me

Hi, I’m Jen. Thank you for looking at my profile. I understand how hard it can be to take the first step in seeking support and choosing the right therapist; I offer a free 30 minute initial session to enable you to get an understanding of how I work. I provide a warm, down-to-earth and friendly approach to my work, using humour where appropriate, to help put you at ease and feel comfortable.

I am a registered member of the BACP and work in an integrative way, whereby I draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor my work to each individual’s needs. I provide a safe and confidential space for my clients to help them explore what is going on for them. I am passionate about supporting people experiencing psychological distress, helping them to discover ways in which to overcome any obstacles they may be facing in life. As well as providing counselling within local charities, I have experience of counselling people of diverse backgrounds from all over the world, who have experienced difficulties such as depression, anxiety, grief, trauma and relationship or work issues.

I am also enthusiastic about working with people who want to discover more about themselves and gain a better understanding of their internal experiences and the external world around them. As well as providing a healing experience, therapy can provide you with the space to better understand and manage your emotions, help build resilience, boost confidence and promote a happier, healthier life.

I can offer evening and weekend appointments upon request and also a reduced rate for students.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
