About me

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed, stuck, lost or confused. Counselling can help you make better sense of your thoughts and feelings and find a way through your challenges.

I believe you already have all you need within you to be who and how you want to be. I passionately believe change is possible if you want it to be. You may just need a helping hand to see what's getting in the way. I'd like to help you better understand yourself, so you can develop the self-compassion and strategies you need to thrive.

You may feel unsure how to find the right help. You've come this far so contact me and we can see if it feels right to work together. I'm friendly, open-minded, down to earth and patient, and I'll do my best to put you at ease so you can be yourself.

I work with young people (16+yrs) and adults, welcoming all cultures, identities and issues. I'll provide non-judgmental empathy, a supportive nurturing style and even a bit of humour if that helps! Together, we'll work to find your own way.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and have a degree in Psychology.  As a Registered Member of the BACP, I adhere to their ethical framework so you can feel confident that my qualifications and practice are client-centred, supervised and safe.

Working integratively means I combine different skills and techniques depending on your needs. My main aim is to help you develop your autonomy and resilience, with a toolkit of coping strategies for facing your challenges.

Being able to talk freely can be liberating and enlightening in itself. I also use a range of practises that can help release and soothe emotions by working somatically with the body. Working creatively with objects or in exercises can also help shed light on patterns of thinking and deep-rooted emotions that impact on your behaviours. Along with psycho-education, my range of practices can help you better understand yourself, develop self-compassion and empower you to find more helpful ways of being.

Previously a college counsellor, I have particular experience and passion working with older teenagers and young people. My easy-going, friendly nature seems to allow young people to feel comfortable opening up with me. But I also offer challenge and creative exploration to encourage autonomy and growth with all clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I offer a free 30 minutes introductory meeting to discuss what support you feel you need, what I can offer you and answer any queries.

If we decide to work together, sessions are 50 minutes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (between 8.30am - 6.00pm). We can meet in person in my comfortable counselling room in Farthinghoe, halfway between Banbury and Brackley. If easier, we can meet online via Zoom. We could also try taking our therapy outside for a walk-and-talk somewhere that works for us both in the nearby countryside.

Sessions are £60 each. I may be able to offer a concessionary rate.
Walk and talk sessions may need to be priced higher to accommodate any travel time.

I ask that sessions be paid via bank transfer in advance or in cash on the day, and I hold a 3 day cancellation policy.

When I work

I work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 8.00am - 6.00pm. I prefer to try and find a regular time for each client but will always do my best to be flexible to a client's plans.

Further information

I offer face-to-face sessions either in my own comfortable counselling room or outdoors where we can walk and talk. I believe that moving and breathing in nature can nurture the spirit, helping us reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

If it suits you better, we can discuss holding sessions online or by phone.
