About me
I'm a UKCP-accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I work in Bridlington from my Garden Cabin and also offer video or phone calls, whichever is best for you.
I'm a relational counsellor, which means we explore your issues and relationships with others—friends, family, colleagues, etc. In our sessions, I listen to what you say about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Through exploration, I can help you become more aware of your patterns of behaviour, view things from a different perspective, and find a way forward that is right for you.
We will gently work with whatever is causing you an issue -
- Relationship problems
- Anxiety
- Grief, in its many forms.
- Baby loss, ectopic pregnancy and fertility issues.
- Depression
- Domestic abuse
- ADHD, ASD and other Neurodiversity.
- Low Self-Esteem.
- Trauma
- Addiction
- Complex PTSD
You may have had a challenging experience and need to talk about it in a safe place. Maybe you are a couple going through a difficult stage in your relationship.
I'm kind and compassionate. I will work creatively with you. I use analogies to help explain. I have studied theories that help me, and as tools to help you, I integrate Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and EMDR Trauma therapy. I regularly maintain ongoing CPD.
Arriving or waiting for your first appointment can lead to anxious feelings, which is really natural. I will show you to my counselling cabin, and you'll be able to get settled. My cabin is in my garden, with hedges and trees. We will be pretty close to nature. Once we start, we'll go at your pace so you can take your time. If we are going to work online, I'll start the call with you, and we will check that we can hear and see each other clearly.
How many sessions will I need?
Thoughts, feelings, and behaviours can get pretty tangled when we add the stresses of everyday life. Add to this a traumatic event or several events, and the tangle gets tighter. Some of these might be physical health problems, family relationship difficulties, parenting, post-natal depression, bereavement, financial worries, career change, studying, shame, panic attacks, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, abuse and a lot more. At the beginning of our journey together, we may not know how long it will be, but I suggest we start with 10 sessions, then reassess at that point. Some people stay in therapy for several years, while others need only a few to steady themselves.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have an Advanced Diploma in Relational Psychotherapeutic Counselling, which I gained at Scarborough Counselling Psychotherapy Training Institute.
I am qualified to provide EMDR sessions. Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing can help you process trauma, fears, and phobias that may have blocked your progress. I have certificates in a wide range of topics, including Gestalt Therapy, Bereavement, Online and phone counselling, Autism, and Couples Counselling.
I volunteered for many years with a National Mental Health Charity on its Listening Service and for five years with a National Bereavement Charity offering individual support sessions to those who have experienced the death of someone close.
I have also worked with a homeless charity, worked in the inpatient unit at a hospice, taught English skills to refugees, and counselled within the criminal justice system.
At present, I am undertaking further advanced training in Relational Gestalt Therapy. Gestalt, although perhaps a strange word, to me means the whole thing, the circle of life, and everything matters. This training excites me, and I will use it to better help you. It is a creative therapy which fires my imagination.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I love colour and the natural world. I have a fascination with our history in the UK which helps me to understand the impact small changes can make.
