About me
I'm a UKCP Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, working in Bridlington from my Garden Cabin, and also video/phone calls, whatever is best for you.
I'm a relational counsellor which means we explore your issues and relationships between yourself and others - friends, family, colleagues etc. In our sessions, I listen to what you say about your thoughts feelings and behaviours. With exploration, I can help to bring patterns of behaviour into greater awareness for you, help you view things from a different perspective and find a way forward that is right for you.
We will gently work with whatever is causing you an issue -
- relationship problems
- anxiety
- grief
- loss
- depression
- domestic abuse
You may have gone through a difficult experience and need to be able to talk about this in a safe place. Maybe, you are a couple going through a difficult stage in your relationship.
I'm kind and compassionate. I will work creatively with you. I use analogies to help explain. I have studied theories that help me, as tools to help you, like Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis. I continue to learn about many things like -
- addiction
- baby loss
- ectopic pregnancy
- trauma
- complex PTSD.
Free Telephone 15-minute session.
If you'd like to know more call, text or email me and I can arrange, with you a good time to have your free telephone call to discuss the sort of things you might want to talk about in your sessions and a few background details for your self or both of you if a couple. It will also give you an idea of what I'm like. You can ask any questions you might have. If we feel we'll be able to work together, we'll arrange a suitable appointment time.
Arriving or waiting for your first appointment can lead to anxious feelings, which is really natural. I will show you to my counselling cabin and you'll be able to get settled. My cabin is in my garden, which has hedges and trees all around. We will be pretty close to nature. Once we start we'll go at your pace, you'll be able to take your time. If we are going to work online, I'll start the call with you and we will check we can hear and see each other clearly.
How many sessions will I need?
Thoughts, feelings and behaviours can get pretty tangled up when we bring in the stresses of everyday life. Add to this a traumatic event or several events and the tangle gets tighter. Some of these might be physical health problems, family relationship difficulties, parenting, post-natal depression, bereavement, financial worries, career change, studying, shame, panic attacks, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, abuse and a lot more. At the beginning of our journey together, we may not know how long this will be, but what I suggest is we start with ten sessions, then reassess and at that point. Some people stay in therapy for several years, some need only a few to steady themselves.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have an Advanced Diploma in Relational Psychotherapeutic Counselling which I gained at Scarborough Counselling Psychotherapy Training Institute.
I have certificates in a wide range of topics, including Gestalt Therapy, Bereavement, Online & phone counselling, Autism, and Couples Counselling.
I have been Volunteering for many years with a National Mental Health Charity on its Listening Service and for five years with a National Bereavement Charity offering individual support sessions to those who have experienced the death of someone close. I
I have also helped with a homeless charity, worked in the inpatient unit at a hospice, helped teach English skills to refugees and counselled within the criminal justice system.
This gives me a wide understanding of situations where people are feeling distressed.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I love colour and the natural world. I have a fascination with our history in the UK which helps me to understand the impact small changes can make.
