About me

I work with people experiencing issues that are destabilising their lives like depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationships, identity, disconnection, poor motivation. I specialise in supporting people with health issues like MS, ME/ CFS, Lupus, FND, and similar. I also help people with burnout and work-related issues.

If you want relief from stress and anxiety, to learn coping mechanisms, and to understand the psychological processes that drive your emotions, and thus your behaviours, then you've come to the right place.

If you want an external, objective, perspective on your life, to get more out of it, to understand why you behave a certain way, why others behave a certain way with you, then I can help.

If you are struggling to juggle the balls of one or more physical long-term health condition(s), work and the rest of your life, then I can definitely help.
Do you despair of ever feeling content or happy again? Or just to feel actively happy rather than a state of plain neutral? Then book in for a consultation with me.

Or you may just want to undertake some personal development, to have someone's support as you tread through life's corridors. I can support you in this too.

I  offer a roadmap towards better health (mental and therefore physical) and a stronger sense of wellbeing using a range of holistic and creative tools such as conversation, art, archetype cards, visualisation, meditation and more.
The three pillars to your work with me will be self-exploration, self-understanding and self-care.

The benefits of working with me include extensive knowledge & experience (25+ years) of working with physical and mental health conditions. As well as conversations, we use outside-the-box thinking, and a range of creative methods (optional and if appropriate) that allow us to access parts of the brain that are normally out of consciousness. This enables us to work deeply, and make lasting change, which ultimately results in increasing your resilience levels.

I am client centred in putting you at the heart of the work, being led by you and your goals. I work at your pace, preferring to accommodate you the person rather than try to make you fit a particular model. I want to see you succeed in your life, and that is what drives my work. My current areas of interest are the mind-body link, chronic ailments, and using creativity for promoting greater wellbeing.

I hold an MA in Child, Adolescent & Family therapy; a Diploma in Coaching; a Diploma in Supervision and an MA in Creative Writing. I am BACP Accredited.
I have worked within CAMHS for 8 years and in the wider NHS for over 12 (including adult eating disorders team). I also provide mental health consultations for professionals struggling to understand client behaviours. I have worked in a range of charities helping adults with a range of emotional difficulties.

I do offer a 15min video consultation – free of charge - to see if we feel we connect enough and feel comfortable enough together to undertake the work.
If we decide to work together, in our initial full session we will undertake an assessment, to start talking about what you want to achieve in the work and for the work to start. All sessions are 50 minutes face to face / video time.

I work in person in and around St. Albans/ Harpenden / Sandridge/ Wheathampstead/ Redbourn area.

Online sessions are available and accessible can be available anywhere, including other parts of Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, London, Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Dorset, Hampshire as well as further afield.
Online meetings are delivered by Zoom or MS Teams for your convenience. Day appointments are available.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I work in a fluid, client-led way, as I believe that the right things will be addressed at the right time and have observed in past work, that there is a circular pattern to issues surfacing.

I am passionate about connecting with the humanity of each person as I feel that this aspect often gets missed in today's fast paced, results driven society.

I provide a calm, contained and safe space aimed at bringing down the energy levels so that we can examine what needs to emerge.

Online I can be available anywhere, including other parts of AL1, AL2, AL3, AL4, Hertfordshire at large, Buckinghamshire, London, Bedfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Dorset, Hampshire as well as further afield.
