About me

Hello, I’m Hermione, and I offer affordable counselling and psychotherapy for adults and young adults. I can help with a wide range of issues which include anxiety and panic attacks, depression, autism, ADHD and neurodivergence, bereavement,  family issues, low self-esteem issues, and relationship problems.

I will provide a space for you which is free from judgement but full of possibility, where you can explore the anxiety, difficulty, pain or sadness which brings you here. Maybe you are struggling to find meaning or purpose in your life, or perhaps you are feeling lonely or isolated. In our sessions you will be able to talk about whatever is on your mind; I am there to listen to you and be with you as you find your way through whatever is troubling you.

I have worked with a broad range of clients from many backgrounds, but have particular experience of working with younger adults. I have volunteered in a university counselling service and offer discounted sessions to those in full time education. I know that this can be an overwhelming and vulnerable time and am here to help you navigate through it.

I also have personal and professional experience which enables me to work with the specific challenges faced by musicians, performers, and those working in the creative industries. I understand the unique pressures of these professional environments and the stress this can put on your mental health; I also appreciate that you may need to work flexibly to fit around irregular schedules.

How I work

The way I work is responsive to what you need; I have been trained to work integratively, which means that I can draw on aspects of different types of talking therapy to support you in the best way possible. I aim to work alongside you to understand how you are experiencing your day-to-day life, in the context of what has happened to you in the past and the choices you would like to make about the future.

I have specialised training in existential therapy, which encourages us to put the feelings we have about our lives into words and to understand the meaning of the thoughts, feelings, behaviours or symptoms you are experiencing. It can help with both immediate issues or challenges you are facing, and making sense of longer-term questions that have been troubling you over time.

What happens next?

Please contact me to arrange a free 20 minute Zoom or phone consultation, which can start to give you a sense of how we might work together. We can explore what brings you to counselling, and any questions that you might have for me.

You can decide to work shorter or longer term; my standard offer is weekly sessions but fortnightly work is also possible if this suits you better. Sessions will usually be at the same regular time, with flexibility to fit around your schedule if you need this.

For remote clients, I offer online or telephone sessions; you can choose which works best for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
