About me

Hi, I’m Heather.

I work in private practice, previously self employed within the NHS Lets Talk Anxiety and Depression Service.

I am currently offering private face to face therapy in Cottingham .  I have had over 9 years working in therapeutic practice.

Though throughout the past 30 years of my working life, I have engaged in various roles that specifically focus on supporting individuals with life,  and its challenges.  I have acquired a wealth of knowledge from both work and life experiences, which have been extremely valuable in developing my expertise, in a wide range of mental health presentations.

I would like to offer a commitment to the work you are bringing. I offer a safe and secure therapeutic space, where we can work together to explore what is happening for you. I believe it is your core right to be heard, understood. and valued in a way that fosters growth,  clarity,  hope and a developing resilience.

My hope is that you feel more able to live your life in a way that feels more comfortable and fulfilling for you.

The way I work

I’m an Integrative Therapist, meaning I draw on various approaches to best meet your individual needs.

My way of working is to understand not just the problem, but the person as a whole.   I believe that being curious about what works for each individual, is much more valuable, than believing a specified modality is the only way to treat certain mental health problem.

In the way I work, you are important, you come first.

If you feel you would like to access the therapy I offer, you are most welcome to contact me by email

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
