About me

I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor, offering an integrative approach to therapy.  I am qualified in Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis, Solution Focussed Therapy and Mindfulness Meditation. I am a welcoming, warm and friendly practitioner with the ability to make you feel at ease in a safe and comfortable space. I offer sessions face to face at my premises in Bramhall, via video call or telephone call.

I believe that everyone has the ability to look within themselves, grow self-awareness and make positive changes to improve their lives, wellbeing and mental health. I also believe that those diagnosed with a mental illness can learn to manage their symptoms and live full, successful and happy lives. I have a toolbox of counselling methods which I use during counselling sessions depending on your individual wants and needs, allowing me to respond to specifically how you feel in each moment and support you in reaching your goals.

Together we can discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to achieve. It is my aim to help empower you in finding solutions to your difficulties which will enable you to move forward positively with your life. I can offer therapeutic strategies and techniques for you to use to support your ongoing development, along with a safe, empathetic and understanding space to talk through your deepest thoughts, feelings and concerns.

I am committed to my own personal ongoing professional development and attend regular workshops, seminars and courses. In line with the BACP guidelines I have regular monthly supervision, hold a current DBS certificate and public liability insurance.

Training, qualifications & experience

Areas that I have the most experience in are: Abuse, Anger, Anxiety, Baby/Child Loss, Bereavement, Body Image, Children's Mental Health, Depression, Exam Stress, Friendships, Family Relationships, Fertility Issues, Grief, Health Issues, Panic Attacks, Pregnancy and Postpartum Mental Health, Relationship Issues, Self-Harm, Self-Esteem, Suicidal Thoughts, Stress and Women’s Health Issues. For a full list of other issues that I work with, please read on.

I offer counselling sessions for adults and young people (12 years old and above).

I have vast experience in counselling adults and have supported adult clients with a wide variety of different issues such as marriage and relationship issues, pregnancy, miscarriage and baby loss, anxiety, self-esteem, bereavement, abuse and depression.

Additionally, I have many years experience working with children and young people, both as a teacher and therapeutically as a counsellor. I have a Degree in Primary Education and worked in Primary and High Schools for over fifteen years. I can help children to explore and express their feelings and thoughts in a safe and healthy way. This can support children towards better social integration, growth and emotional wellbeing and helps to provide them with tools to better manage their mental health in the future.

I previously worked as an Immediate Support Counsellor on an Adult Mental Health Helpline. This work enabled me to work in a solution focussed way with clients and I was able to help them make positive steps forward in a short amount of time. It gave me experience of working with a wide variety of client issues.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
