About me

Hello, I’m Ginella, a person centred counsellor who believes that every individual has the capacity to grow and change. I use an approach that places you at the centre of your healing, and the therapeutic relationship is key to facilitating this process. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, and work towards greater self-awareness and personal growth. I will listen to you with empathy, respect, and unconditional positive regard, and support you in finding your own solutions to the challenges you face. Together, we can work towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life for you.

I take pride in my ability to support the LGBTQ+ and gender diverse community, and offer therapy to those who seek someone who can relate to their experiences. Research has shown that the feeling of safety and acceptance from a counsellor is a positive catalyst for courage to flourish and grow. This means that seeking out a counsellor with whom you feel completely safe, and not judged in any way is not just a ‘nice-to-have’, but may actually be a vital part of your journey towards courage and change. I am committed to helping and supporting trans, non-binary and gender diverse people of all ethnicities and sexual orientations. This includes offering support to allies, partners, and family members as they navigate the adjustments in their relationships resulting from these changes.

With my involvement in a twelve-step recovery program, I have gained direct experience that enables me to empathise with the challenges of overcoming substance abuse. This background puts me in a unique position to understand and relate to the struggles you may be encountering

People come to therapy to explore themselves for many different reasons, each unique to the individual. I invite you to have a short phone conversation with me, where we can get to know each other, talk about your story, and see what you hope to achieve through therapy. If we agree to work together, we can schedule our first session. I work from my private practice in Maidenhead, Berkshire, and can meet you in person or online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor (Dip.Couns.) with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a member of the BACP.

I commenced my training amidst the peak of the pandemic in 2020, which spanned over three years and included an internship at a local agency. Throughout this period, I accumulated numerous hours of counselling practice and devoted numerous days to ongoing personal development across diverse subjects to enrich my training. This endeavour aimed to meet the diverse needs of our community and tackle a broad range of challenges. Furthermore, I have served as an operator/listener for a national helpline supporting gender diversity for several years.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
