About me

Hello, I’m Fran and I offer short and long-term counselling and psychotherapy for individuals and couples who are having difficulties.
If you are anxious, depressed or lonely,  if you’re struggling to manage your feelings and emotions, or if someone close has passed away, it might help to talk to someone who will understand how you are feeling, and who will listen to you without judgement.
If your relationship with your partner is experiencing difficulties then I can support you as a couple.
I offer face-to-face consultations and on-line consultations. Please ring or text me on 07522 109106, or if you prefer you can email me at franruddy@btinternet.com.
I work with individual people and couples from my therapy room, and can offer you a warm, empathetic and confidential space where you can talk freely about your experiences and current difficulties.
Specialising in every kind of abuse and all sorts of trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), I also have considerable experience in working with a range of difficulties, including loss, anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, low self-esteem and confidence, anger issues, personality disorders, addictions and relationship problems.
I have a Diploma in Psychotherapy which helps me to understand why you may feel or behave in a certain way and which may be holding you back and causing upset and confusion in your life and affecting you and others around you. Through talking together, I can help you understand your thoughts and feelings, and together we can move towards a happier, healthier you.

Training, qualifications & experience

My background is in social work and I have spent many years working with children and families, along with individuals, at times of crisis in their lives.

I now work as a counsellor and psychotherapist with a private practice in the centre of Penistone, South Yorkshire.

My qualifications include:

  • Diploma in Psychotherapy
  • Bsc (Hons) Social Work
  • Diploma - Practice Educator for Social Work Students
  • Registered Membership of BACP

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
