About me

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an EMDR therapist registered with EMDR UK and I am DBS approved. I have over 15 years of experience working in Psychological services within the NHS and can offer assessment and treatment for a range of mental health problems. These include, depressions, anxiety, low self esteem and self-worth, PTSD, OCD, personality difficulties and attachment and relational problems, stress and burnout.

As an Integrative therapist I use approaches, which includes, mindfulness, acceptance commitment therapy, Compassion focused therapy, parts work and trauma focused interventions. I also use EMDR, which is recognised, by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for treatment of complex trauma (PTSD) but can also be used for other presenting problems.

I offer a space that is a non judgemental, compassionate and therapeutic and promote safety, trust and change. This allows us to work together to explore and understand life events, transitions and patterns which can lead to feeling stuck. I aim to offer a safe, therapeutic, safe space to help you explore what might have happened in your life and what brings you to therapy. I am interested in understanding you better so I can better help you, to understand yourself and the challenges and difficulties you are experiencing

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
