About me

I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As an integrative therapist, I utilise a range of techniques from various theoretical models, tailored to your individual needs.

I have experience providing short term and long term therapy for adults, children and young adults from various backgrounds and cultures and my expertise can help support those with a variety of concerns such as depression, anxiety, abuse, suicide ideation, loss and bereavement, bullying, low self esteem, anger, life transitions, relationship problems, work and career problems, trauma and so on. Whatever has led you here, I aim to create an accepting and grounded space where you can truly be yourself and explore exactly what this means to you. We will work together collaboratively at all times to help you identify the best solutions and paths towards your goals; ultimately allowing you to develop a sense of assurance in your own beliefs and values and be able to eventually draw on these inner resources to face life's constant challenges.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy that is non-judgemental, collaborative, calm and confidential on a one to one basis to individuals over the age of 18 by video call via Zoom or over the phone. I work remotely with clients on a national basis.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

As an integrative therapist, I apply both technical and theoretical techniques from a range of different modalities in order to provide the best service for you possible. The modality that serves as the fundamental basis for my practice is Person Centered Theory, which focuses on the quality of relationship between the client and therapist, ultimately allowing the client to reverse their state of incongruence at the beginning of their journey and throughout. Others include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, some aspects of Psychodynamic Theory and I am also particularly interested in exploring the connection between the human mind and body. As all human beings are so diverse and complex in their own ways, not being bound to a singular approach means that I can adapt to your individual needs as the sessions progress.

Before we start, I offer a free 10-15 minute consultation to provide you with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and to get a feel to whether this is for you or not. On our first session you will have an opportunity to tell me in detail what has lead you to therapy and we will build a contract together. If for any reason you decide that this may not be the best fit for you, then I will always try and signpost you to someone who might be better equipped to help you. In this initial contracting session we will agree whether you would prefer an "open ended" session model (where there are no set number of sessions and we could potentially work together for months, even years) or a "short term" session model where I offer 8, 12 or 16 sessions. There is of course always a chance to extend your time, if you wish to do so.

Throughout our sessions, I will carry out regular "review sessions" in order to work according to your individual needs in a collaborative manner. This gives us a chance to to discuss the direction in which therapy is heading, your personal preferences and furthermore it also provides you with an opportunity to give feedback on how you are finding me as your therapist. I use a framework in order to provide a structure for the process of your therapy which is broken down into three parts:

  1. Exploring your current situation.
  2. Identifying what your goals are and gaining a deeper understanding of what you want to happen next.
  3. Executing your goals and evaluating the process.

As an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and I also undergo regular supervision. Moreover, I am committed to continuous self development in order to further develop my knowledge of a consistent basis and to provide you with the best service possible.
